Job Title:
Senior D365 CE / Azure Engineer
Salary:
£300 - 400 per day
Location:
UK-based / predominantly remote with occasional travel to the office for workshops and PI planning
Work Type:
Contract
Role:
Join a large-scale, technically complex Microsoft Dynamics 365 programme within the UK public sector, working in an environment that has evolved far beyond a traditional D365 implementation. This is an opportunity for a senior engineer to work across Dynamics 365 CE, C#/.NET, Azure and Power Platform within a mature platform where custom engineering and cloud architecture are central to the roadmap.
You’ll join an established engineering team responsible for a heavily customised D365 ecosystem, contributing across custom development, Azure services, integrations, PCF components and the wider platform architecture. The programme is continuing to modernise its engineering approach, including exploring AI-assisted development and new ways to improve development velocity and platform capability.
Responsibilities:
You’ll take ownership of complex engineering challenges across the D365 and Azure landscape, quickly understanding the existing architecture and contributing with a high level of technical autonomy. Day to day, you’ll develop and enhance custom D365 CE functionality using C#/.NET, plugins, PCF controls and Azure services while building and maintaining integrations across the wider platform.
You’ll work extensively with Azure Functions, Power Platform and Dataverse, contribute to CI/CD through Azure DevOps and help tackle technical debt as the programme continues to modernise. You’ll also collaborate with architects and senior engineers to evolve the platform beyond traditional out-of-the-box Dynamics, contributing to technical decisions that will influence its longer-term direction.
Required Skills:
Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE / CRM is essential, combined with a genuine software engineering background and advanced C#/.NET development skills. You’ll need hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Functions / Function Apps, Power Platform / Power Apps, Dataverse, PCF / Power Apps Component Framework, Azure DevOps, APIs, integration patterns and custom D365 development including plugins.
You should be comfortable working beyond standard D365 configuration and low-code development, operating confidently across custom code, Azure services and complex integrations. Experience with NoSQL and broader Azure services or infrastructure would be beneficial. You’ll need the ability to understand an established architecture quickly and deliver without significant technical hand-holding. BPSS screening is required before starting.
Why should I apply?
This is a strong contract opportunity for an engineer who wants more technical depth than a conventional Dynamics 365 role can offer. Rather than being limited to configuration and standard platform functionality, you’ll work across a genuinely engineering-led Microsoft ecosystem where D365 CE sits alongside C#/.NET, Azure, Power Platform, custom UI development and sophisticated integrations.
You’ll gain exposure to a programme operating at significant scale, tackle meaningful architectural and modernisation challenges and have the opportunity to influence how the platform evolves. With the team exploring modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development, you’ll also be working in an environment focused on improving how complex D365 solutions are built for the future. For a strong C#/.NET and Azure engineer who knows Dynamics 365 CE inside out, this offers the technical challenge, autonomy and platform exposure that can add significant value to your contracting profile.
